Respondus Information

LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are custom browsers that lock down the testing environment in a Brightspace quiz. Many exams in Brightspace have LockDown Browser or Respondus Monitor enabled to ensure academic honesty.

LockDown Browser and Respondus Monitor are not supported on Chromebooks.  If you have a Chromebook, you may need to borrow a laptop or tablet in order to take your exam. To do so, follow the instructions below:

For on-campus students - the College's I.T. department has several PC laptops available for loan.  To see if one is available for you to borrow, please email  The library has two iPads that may be borrowed, as well.  To make use of an iPad, fill out this iPad request form at least three days in advance of your exam.

When using LockDown Browser, other applications can not be running in the background. On a Mac, you may see an error like this. Follow the instructions on that page to resolve this issue.
